Hiking at Phillipskop is a privilege for those who support our conservation work. If you are not staying with us, you will need to join our Friends of Phillipskop scheme to access the trails. This contribution directly funds the protection of this special landscape, including habitat restoration, alien plant control, and trail maintenance.

Unlike national parks and provincial reserves, Phillipskop receives no government funding. All conservation work here is paid for entirely from income generated through our accommodation and conservation access fees.

The cost (R200–R400 depending on group size) is similar to what many people spend on things like a meal at a good restaurant, DSTV, or a tank of petrol. The difference is that your support helps protect this unique biodiverse landscape and all its associated flora and fauna. Plus, if you are in the area again, you can return to hike at no extra charge for a whole year.

If you prefer not to join the Friends scheme, you can still visit by paying a discounted rate for a Day Conservation Permit.
