Are you looking for somewhere to get into the mountains for a walk, or where you can find a mountain stream to cool off in on hot days? Would you like to learn more about the fynbos vegetation that makes the flora of this part of the world so unique and special? Come and visit Phillipskop Mountain Reserve…
The reserve is 246 ha (±600 acres) of almost pristine fynbos, set on the southern slopes of the Klein River Mountains. We are the only place this side of Hermanus that one can access the heights of the Klein River Mountains without special permission. There are some simple hiking trails to help you find your way around as you explore the reserve: climb to the summit of Phillipskop and soak up the stunning panoramic views; explore our rock stack and cave with rock art; cool off playing by our streams and waterfall, or head over to our small dam (large enough to immerse yourself in). Alternatively, take a gentle stroll and simply enjoy the amazing diversity of plant and animal life on the reserve.
Entry to the Reserve
- R40 per adult per day
- Children aged 18 and under, R20 per day (under 5s free)
Please do supervise your children at all times whilst on the Reserve – we cannot accept responsibility should anything happen to them.
The reserve is open 09:00-17:00, but please contact us or phone (073 621 1808) in advance.
For those who would like to discover more, we offer personalised guided walks. Chris, your expert guide, will help you to find out more about the wonders of the fynbos vegetation, from whatever level of knowledge you are starting at.
